Milwaukee locksmith FAQ

Clear before the visit.

Are you open 24 hours?

Yes. LockReach provides mobile locksmith service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Do you have a walk-in shop?

No walk-in storefront is advertised. Service is mobile, so call before going to the listed business address.

How far outside Milwaukee do you travel?

We regularly cover Milwaukee and many nearby communities, generally within the broader metro area. It is not a rigid radius; call with the address so current coverage can be confirmed.

How much does a locksmith visit cost?

Cost depends on the job, hardware, vehicle system, time, and site conditions. Describe the situation in detail and ask what is included before authorizing work.

What should I prepare before a lockout visit?

Have identification and proof that you are authorized to access the home, business, or vehicle. Also share parking, gate, or building-entry instructions.

Can you make a copy of my key?

This site does not advertise general key duplication. Automotive work is limited to replacement, fitting, and programming for supported vehicles.

Do you work on safes, mailboxes, or motorcycles?

No. Those services are not included in the work described on this site.

Can you promise an arrival time?

Call for current availability. We do not publish a universal arrival-time claim because distance, traffic, weather, and active jobs vary.

Should I rekey or replace my locks after moving?

Rekeying can be enough when the existing locks are compatible, secure, and working properly. Replacement may make more sense for damaged, worn, unsuitable, or incompatible hardware. The doors should be reviewed before choosing one answer for all of them.

Why does my deadbolt work when the door is open but not when it is closed?

That pattern often points toward pressure or alignment between the bolt and strike. Hinges, weather stripping, frame movement, or door position can be involved. Avoid forcing the key and mention the open-door test when you call.

Can LockReach install a smart lock I already purchased?

Possibly. Send the model and photos of the door so compatibility can be considered. Door thickness, backset, existing preparation, handing, and smooth bolt travel still matter even when the lock uses an app or keypad.

Can a tenant call a locksmith for an apartment?

A tenant can call about a private unit lock, but identification and proof of residency may be required. Work on a shared entrance, common area, or owner-controlled hardware may require authorization from the property manager or owner.

What if my car registration is locked inside the vehicle?

Mention that when you call. Identification and proof of authorized use are still required, but the technician can explain what other information may help verify the connection to the vehicle.

Why does my key fob unlock the doors but not start the car?

Remote buttons and start authorization can rely on different functions inside the fob and vehicle. A battery, transponder, proximity system, programming issue, or incompatible device may be involved. Share the vehicle details and exact dashboard message.

Can several locks be changed to use one key?

Sometimes. The cylinders must be compatible, in serviceable condition, and appropriate for the access plan. Separate units, staff areas, storage rooms, or shared entrances may need to remain on different keys.

What photos help before a locksmith visit?

Take one photo of the full door from inside and outside, then a closer image of the hardware. For a vehicle key or fob, photograph both sides and any readable identification. Do not include personal documents in the image.

What should I do if the key starts bending?

Stop turning it. Pliers and added force can leave part of the key inside the lock and damage the cylinder. Keep the key intact, try another authorized entrance if available, and describe how far the key moves.

Do you work with property managers and small businesses?

Yes, for common residential and commercial lock work with clear authorization. Provide the exact property, entrance, suite or unit, desired access change, and a reachable decision-maker.

Are you available overnight?

Yes. Emergency locksmith service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Can you help if the key is locked inside?

Yes. Vehicle lockout service is one of the common reasons people call.

Is this a key-copying service?

No. This page is about replacement, fitting, and programming for supported vehicles, not general key duplication.

Can you program a fob I bought online?

Sometimes, but compatibility must be checked. Matching appearance alone is not enough.

Can you rekey the locks after I move?

Yes, when the existing hardware is compatible and in serviceable condition.

Do you work with property managers?

Yes, with clear authorization and access instructions for the property.

Will my old key stop working?

Yes. The purpose of rekeying is to make the old key no longer operate the rekeyed lock.

Can a sticking lock be repaired?

Often, yes. The cause may be the cylinder, latch, strike, door alignment, or worn hardware.

Still unsure?

Describe the symptom.

You do not need to diagnose the lock before calling. Say what you can see, what the key or door is doing, and what changed before the problem started. For vehicle work, include the year, make, model, and key type.

Tell us what is happening at the door or vehicle.

Call any time. A clear description, address, and a few details about the lock, door, or vehicle help us understand the next step.
